Suspected Ebola virus carrying patient has been released

The person suspected of carrying the Ebola virus has been discharged from a hospital in Chennai after he showed no symptoms of the disease.

Speaking to ANI, Dr Elango, Regional Medical Officer, said, "The person in question is 26 years old. He was travelling from Guinea and was admitted only as a quarantine measure only. At present, he shows no symptoms of the virus," adding that the person will be under surveillance for 21 days.

"We have taken a sample of his blood and we are testing it for the virus, both here and in Pune. We have also informed the health officers of his hometown about him," Dr Elango added.
