US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that talks with China to address the problem of 'trade imbalance' are going "very well."
"Talks with China are going on very well!" Trump tweeted on January 8.
However, President Trump's comments did not divulge any details regarding the steps which may be taken to curtail the trade war between the US and China.
The US President's remark comes a day after China announced that the two countries were close to striking a deal over the ongoing 'trade imbalance' between the two nations.
At the moment, trade talks are ongoing between US and China in Beijing. Quoting US officials, South China Morning Post reported that discussions would continue for the third day on January 9 between the two sides.
"I think we will make a deal with China. We have a massive trade negotiation going on with China. President Xi is very much involved. So am I. We're dealing at the highest levels and we're doing very well," Trump had earlier said on Friday.
