The Rainforest Challenge, or RFC as it is popularly known, is one of the toughest and the most internationally represented motor races in the world and is keenly followed by off-road enthusiasts globally ever since its inception in 1997.

However, this year the event holds a special significance for Indian off-road motorsport community as for the first time in the history of the sport, an Indian team is competing in the challenge being held in the dense rainforests of Malaysia.

Thirty-two-year old Kabir Waraich of Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh, along with co-driver Gurmeet Virdi, is competing against 34 other teams, comprising of the best off-road talent globally, in the challenge that tests the off-road driving and vehicle recovery skills of the competitors under extremely tough conditions.

RFC works on the concept of the survival of the fittest and challenges the participating teams' physical and mental fitness to the utmost limit. Kabir has secured an automatic entry in the Grand Final of the RFC Global Series this year owing to a podium finish at the recently concluded first edition of the Force Gurkha RFC India. RFC is being held in different parts of Malaysia over a period of ten days from 29th November to 8th December.

The event is divided into four competitive legs - the Prologue, the Predator, the Terminator and the Twilight Zone - comprising of various Special Stages (SS) specially designed by RFC International track experts.

The Prologue Stage was recently concluded at Port Dickson where the RFC India Team showcased its capabilities and determination to win by completing 8 out of the 9 Special Stages successfully.

Unfortunately, they could not complete one SS as their winch had broken down. While the Indian off-road mavericks have left for Rembau district for the Predator Stages, we bring to you a few action-packed images from the Prologue Stage.
