US casino files lawsuit against poker player for $9.6mln win by 'card-cheating'

A US professional poker player is reportedly the subject of a federal lawsuit of a New Jersey casino that accuses him of cheating at cards.

Phil Ivey, who has been called the 'best poker player' in the world, has an impressive record in poker as he is the youngest player to have won nine World Series of Poker bracelets and he has called himself the 'Michael Jordan' or 'Tiger Woods' of poker.

According to ABC News, Ivey, who has won 6,343,022 dollars in earnings from World Series of Poker and circuit events, was accused of 'card-cheating' by the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, Atlantic City, by taking advantage of a defect in the playing cards.

The report mentioned that the lawsuit alleges Ivey was able to win 9.6 million dollars by asking that the dealer flip the cards in a specific manner.

This is not the first time Ivey has been accused of cheating, with the player being accused of cheating by a UK casino in 2011 when he won 11.5 million dollars in the course of two days.

Before 2011, Ivey was ranked No. 1 in the world of online poker game earnings with 19.24 million dollars, according to his website, the report added.
