Midfielder Arturo Vidal's early goal gave Bayern Munich 1-0 triumph over Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie at Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old's second-minute goal was enough for the five-time winners to take advantage over Benfica.
Bayern, however, did not manage to build on their advantage as Benfica weathered an early storm to stay competitive in the last eight clash, the Guardian reported.
The visitors had a chance to settle with a draw when Jonas' second-half strike was blocked by Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez, but they failed in their efforts.
The two sides will now lock horns on April 14 at Stadium of Light.
