Deploring the suicide attack on the Pakistani side of the Wagah border, Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar on Monday urged the international community to jointly fight terrorism.

"This was a very serious blast, and an act of terror which has happened just along the Wagah border in the Pakistan area. I deplore this attack. But this also shows that the great challenge that the world community is facing is combating terrorism and to that the world must make united efforts to combat this challenge and that's the only way to weed out terrorism from our society," Javadekar told the media here.

A reported 55 people, including three security personnel, were reportedly killed and nearly 200 injured when a suicide attacker detonated a powerful bomb at Wagah in Pakistan on Sunday, just after the flag-lowering ceremony at the border crossing.

The Al-Qaeda affiliated group Jandullah has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Pakistan Rangers had reportedly sealed off the area following the incident and security and rescue personnel were rushed to the site. All hospitals in Lahore have also been put on emergency.

Wagah, lying on the Grand Trunk Road, is the only road border crossing between India and Pakistan.
