Joey "Jaws" Chestnut won the Nathan's famous 4th of July hot dog eating contest, along with getting engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Neslie Ricasa in front of the cheering contest audience.
Chestnut, 30, said that he felt great about winning the title for guzzling 61 hot dogs and proposing his sweetheart publicly, although wooing her was "hard and scary", News.com.au reported.
The 8 time reigning champion added that he was ready to gulp down more than 70 hotdogs, but the day's steady downpour had made the franks waterlogged, which it made it hard for him to break his own 2013 record of 69 hotdog.
Meanwhile Ricasa, who herself had adopted competitive eating, expects hotdog as a part of the menu on the tying-knot day, for which the date has not yet been set.
