Teenaged Australian spinner Ashton Agar is reportedly set to return to Australia early from the Ashes tour of England due to illness.
According to Sport24, Agar made an impressive Test debut in the Ashes opener at Trent Bridge with a score of 98, the highest score by any Test match No 11 batsman, and also played in Australia's colossal 347-run second Test defeat at Lord's.
However, the teenager was left out of the team that drew the third Test at Old Trafford after taking just two wickets in all at an average of 124, and has not featured in the series, which Australia already lost 3-0, and was also not included for the fifth and final Test.
Announcing Agar's return to Australia, Cricket Australia (CA) said that Agar has been unwell for the past week for which a decision has been made to allow him to return early to Australia.
Australia team doctor Peter Brukner said that Agar has had a mild viral illness for the past week and needs some time to rest and recuperate, adding that although he has handled the pressure well in the long tour, CA believed that it would be a good idea for Agar to get a short break before the domestic season.
Agar was not included in Australia's squad announced Thursday for the post-Ashes Twenty20 and one-day series, the report added.
