The Telangana government on Tuesday night promised to take strict action against the site manager of a construction company after the accused allegedly forbade a worker to breast-feed her child, resulting in the baby's death.
According to reports, the incident took place on February 7 in the Medak district of the state, but the case was only lodged on February 15. The worker, a native of the Mahabubnagar district, lived in a shack near the construction site and was allegedly not allowed to feed the six-month old for about two hours.
After the case came to light, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali reportedly promised swift action in the case.
