Chevrolet has launched its ‘mammoth’ SUV, Trailblazer today at a price tag of Rs. 26.4 lacs. This is Chevrolet’s second take at the premium SUV segment after Captiva and will be a CBU product initially. Powering this beast is a 2.8-litre Duramax engine that churns out class-leading 200 PS of power and 500 NM of torque which is around 30 PS/157 NM more than the segment leader- Toyota Fortuner. However, unlike the Fortuner, Trailblazer is only available with a 2WD setup and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Trailblazer is 4,878mm long, 1,902mm wide and 1,847mm tall, which makes this the largest vehicle in this segment. This car can carry a weight of up to 2,068 kg and with a huge ground clearance of 231mm, features like hill start assist, hill-Descent control and a water wading capacity of 800mm, this brute will tackle almost any terrain.

Chevrolet’s family dual-port grille which blends well with the swept back projector headlamps and foglamp housings define the front look of Trailblazer. Side profile is dominated by large window frames and understated wheel arches. The rear gets wrap-around LED tail lamp cluster along with chrome accents. Highlighting the interiors is Chevrolet’s MyLink 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has Bluetooth/AUX/USB connectivity. This infotainment system also has satellite navigation and a display for reverse parking camera with sensors which is very necessary for a car of this size.
Trailblazer will take on Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and the upcoming Ford Endeavour in the premium SUV segment.
