The 800 cc version competes with Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai EON while the AMT and 1-liter version will compete largely with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and K10 AGS!
Renault will reportedly showcase the clutchless AMT and 1000 cc versions of the popular Kwid at the upcoming Expo in February 2016. The French automaker made world debut of the Kwid on September 24th, 2015 while initial deliveries started around mid-October. The automaker priced it aggressively with more than 90% localization, Kwid prices ranges from - Rs. 2.56 - 3.53 Lacs (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) and the company has received nearly 80,000 bookings for the vehicle since around August 2015. Now, the upcoming automatic and more powerful 1-liter versions are expected take this figure to a new high!
With the 800 cc motor, Renault Kwid generates a healthy 54 bhp and 72 Nm of max torque; the 1-liter motor is expected to deliver power in the vicinity of 70 horses and max torque of over 90 Nm. This will make the Kwid more agile courtesy to its lightweight chassis. Similar to the 800 cc motor, 1-liter will come standard with 5-speed manual transmission and is also expected to be fuel efficient. Speaking of the AMT version, Renault is most likely to equip AMT with both the engine options of the Kwid. And the AMT box is expected to be the in-house developed Easy-R AMT that the automaker debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show a couple of months earlier. Moreover, the Easy-R automatic is also expected in the upcoming 2016 Renault Duster facelift.
