Nifty January 2016 futures trade near spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The January 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7442.70, near Nifty's closing of 7437.80 in the cash market. The Nifty February 2016 futures traded at 7464.20, a premium of 26.40 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures and options (F&O) segment dropped to Rs 2.63 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.11 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty lost 99 points or 1.31% to settle at 7,437.80, its lowest closing level since 4 June 2014.

Reliance Industries (RIL), Wockhardt, Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), Infosys, State Bank of India (SBI), Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE.

RIL January 2016 futures traded at 1072.90, near spot closing of 1072.60. Wockhardt January 2016 futures traded at 1277.10, near spot closing of 1274. RInfra January 2016 futures traded at 494.75, near spot closing of 492.45.

Infosys January 2016 futures traded at 1144.05, near spot closing of 1140. SBI January 2016 futures traded at 183.45, near spot closing of 183.30. Axis Bank January 2016 futures traded at 373.60, near spot closing of 372.85.

The January 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 January 2016. The February 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 February 2016.
