Turnover on NSE's F&O segment spurts
The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,195.90, a premium of 25.85 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,170.05 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8,227, a premium of 56.95 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 2.59 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 2.72 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 33.55 points or 0.41% to settle at 8,170.05, its lowest closing level since 1 June 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), Yes Bank, Reliance Infrastructure, Tata Steel and Tata Motors were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in the June 2016 series. SBI June 2016 futures traded at 206.70, at a premium compared with spot closing of 206.10. Yes Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1062.70, at a discount compared with spot closing of 1064. Reliance Infrastructure June 2016 futures traded at 551, at a premium compared with spot closing of 548.15.
Tata Steel June 2016 futures traded at 335.10, at a premium compared with spot closing of 333.70. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 459.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 457.40.
The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
