Nifty June 2016 futures trade at slight premium to spot price
The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,233.55, a slight premium of 12.75 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,220.80 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8,256.75, a premium of 35.95 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 1.51 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 2.3 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 1.85 points or 0.02% to settle at 8,220.80, its highest closing level since 27 October 2015.
Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Idea Cellular, State Bank of India (SBI), and Tata Steel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in the June 2016 series. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 455.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 452.55. Axis Bank June 2016 futures traded at 544, at a premium compared with spot closing of 542.25. Idea Cellular June 2016 futures traded at 104.80, at a discount compared with the stock's spot closing of 105.25.
SBI June 2016 futures traded at 196.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 196.25. Tata Steel June 2016 futures traded at 339.10, at a premium compared with spot closing of 337.85.
The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
