Nifty May 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment declines

The May 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7766, a premium of 16.30 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7749.70 in the cash market. The June 2016 futures traded at 7771, a premium of 21.30 points compared with the spot closing of the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 3.21 lakh crore, lower than turnover of Rs 3.29 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 33.70 points or 0.43% to settle at 7,749.70.

Lupin, ITC, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the F&O segment of NSE. Lupin May 2016 futures traded at 1509, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1506. ITC May 2016 futures traded at 336.90, at a discount compared with spot closing of 338. Reliance Industries May 2016 futures traded at 936.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 933.40.

ICICI Bank May 2016 futures traded at 220.70, at a premium compared with spot closing of 220.05. Yes Bank May 2016 futures traded at 980, at a discount compared with spot closing of 980.10.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016. The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016.
