449 kg of marijuana seized in Delhi, one held

Delhi Police on Monday arrested a person who was carrying 449 kg of marijuana in a truck, an officer said.

Acting on a tip, a police team intercepted a truck on GT Karnal Road in North-West Delhi early on Monday and recovered the contraband, police said.

"The PCR staff apprehended a person identified as Surjit Singh, resident of village Bahupur Afgan, district Gurdaspur in Punjab. However, two other persons escaped from the spot. Nine bags containing 449 kg of marijuana were recovered from the truck," the police officer said.
