Amit Shah's Burdwan meeting flop show: Trinamool

The Trinamool Congress Tuesday termed BJP president Amit Shah's meeting in Burdwan a "flop show" and ridiculed the BJP's attempt to uproot the Trinamool from power through "missed calls".

"Today's BJP rally at Burdwan was a flop show. The main speaker's (Amit Shah) speech lasted only a few minutes," Trinamool secretary general Partha Chaterjee told media persons here.

Stating that the BJP campaign was based only on 'propaganda', Chatterjee said: "They want to uproot the Trinamool from power through missed calls."

"People who have no capacity to bloom shapla (a type of plant) are talking of lotus (BJP's election symbol) blooming in Bengal. I hope Amit babu has understood it is difficult for the lotus to bloom in Bengal," he said.

Referring to BJP observer for Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh's slogan "Bhaag Madan bhaag", "Bhaag Mukul Bhaag" and "Bhaag Mamata Bhag", the Trinamool leader said Bengal's political culture has no place for such bad utterances.

Targeting state BJP chief Rahul Sinha, Chatterjee took exception to the manner in which he refered to a minority community.

"The way Mr. Rahul Sinha used the name of a particular community, in a derogatory manner, is deplorable. If Rahul Sinha cared about Bengal, he would speak out against the centre's negligence towards the State."
