A Delhi Police Sub-Inspector, arrested on charges of misappropriating Rs 18 lakh in demonetised currency, on Monday accused three police officers of assaulting him in custody.
Sub-Inspector Sudhir Rathi's defence counsel Pradeep Rana moved an application before Metropolitan Magistrate Sushil Kumar, claiming that the three Delhi Police officials beat up his client.
Rana told the court that his client was forced to sign blank papers and opposed any extension of his police custody. He urged the court to initiate an inquiry on his application.
But the court allowed the police to quiz Rathi for one more day but asked it to file its reply to the application and his medical report.
Rathi, posted at Kalyanpuri police station, was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly misappropriated Rs 18 lakh in old notes belonging to Bihar-based cloth merchant Amanatullah Wasim.
