A boulder on the railway track derailed Bengaluru Express on Monday. However, there were no casualties, a railway official said.
The incident occurred as the Karwa/Kannnur - Bengaluru Express hit a boulder on the track, resulting in the derailment of a locomotive but without causing any casualty, said Anil Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager, South Western Railway.
It happened around 2.30 a.m. near Donigal after the train left Mangaluru.
Railways authorities ferried the stranded passengers in 26 buses of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Kumar said, adding the track has now been restored.
