Chhattisgarh IAS officer to get PM's award

Raipur, April 20 (IANS) O.P. Choudhary, a 2005-batch IAS officer of Chhattisgarh, will be conferred an award by the prime minister for his initiatives to provide education to children in Maoist insurgency-hit Dantewada district, official sources said.

He will be given the award on Civil Service Day (April 21) in New Delhi.

Choudhary, who has been recently shifted to Raipur as director of public relations from collector of Dantewada, has been selected for prime minister's award of excellence in public administration for his outstanding contribution.

Choudhary's brainchild "Education City" aimed at turning the centre of the "Red corridor" into an educational hub and included in the 100 best infrastructural projects of the world, his "Chhoo Lo Asman" project - a residential school providing best coaching for engineering and medical courses as well as other competitions to hundreds of under privileged children, his "Astha Gurukul" providing education and lodging to hundreds of orphaned children free of cost and success of "Pota Cabin" schools, are some of the testimonials of his pro-humanitarian approaches having earned acclaim the world over.
