China now has the ability to build high-power aircraft carriers, Li said.

"The level of training of the armed forces has been greatly improved. We still have to make improvement in terms of high-tech war," the Global Times Thursday quoted Li as saying.

The development of high-tech military technology is a realistic choice for the protection of national security, Li added.
