The Chinese men's table tennis team, the defending champions, whitewashed Serbia 3-0 in their final group match to reach the quarterfinals of the 2014 World Team Table Tennis Championships here Thursday.
Chinese team captain Ma Long thrashed Marko Jevtovic in three games 11-2, 11-5, 11-6 to give China the early lead, reports Xinhua.
Wang Hao, who has only made one appearance for China in the previous four group matches, then beat Bojan Crepulja, also in three games.
Xu Xin put the result beyond Serbia defeating Zolt Pete 11-9, 11-2 and 11-6.
The defending champions won all their five group matches 3-0 and became the first team to reach the quarterfinals.
