The Congress on Wednesday evening took out a mashal (torch) parade here to protest against what it claims is a betrayal by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government as it failed to fulfil its electoral promises.
It also accused the ruling dispensation of running a government with anti-people agendas.
State party president Luizinho Faleiro said: "This rally is to remind the government about their misdeeds as well as make the people aware of the chronic failure of this BJP-led coalition government."
Faleiro also recounted several promises made by the BJP ahead of the 2012 legislative polls, which the former Goa chief minister said had not been fulfilled.
"What happened to the promise of removing VAT permanently on petrol? What happened to the promise of removal of casinos from Goa's rivers or full resumption of mining or zero tolerance to corruption?" Faleiro said, claiming more than one minister in the BJP-led coalition government in the state had been indicted for corruption by the judiciary itself.
Hundreds of Congress workers walked around a kilometer through Panaji's major roads with flaming torches.
