Congress wins both Lok Sabha seats in Manipur

The ruling Congress party Friday won both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Manipur, official said here.

In Inner Manipur, Congress candidate and incumbent MP Thokchom Meinya Singh defeated the Communist Party of India's Moirangthem Nara Singh by 94,674 votes.

In the tribal reserved Outer Manipur constituency, Congress candidate Thangso Baite defeated the Naga Peoples Front's (NPF) Soso Lorho by a margin of 15,637 votes.

A total of 18 candidates contested from Manipur's two seats.

The NPF is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led-National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
