The CPI-ML has decided to survey five lakh poor families in Bihar to understand their socio-economic condition to set out its revival strategy, a party leader said Tuesday.
"The survey's outcome would help us to evolve a two-pronged strategy to expose the central and state government's failures on the ground," Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya told reporters.
The survey titled, "gaon ka sach, logon ka haq" would be launched after June 20 and its findings would be known by August end, setting the tone for CPI-ML's future agenda.
He admitted that party's rout in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election is a matter of serious concern for its members.
"We have deliberated and discussed it within the party and an unanimous decision was taken to undertake the survey to know whether poor families have their own houses, land, drinking water facility and schools for their children," Bhattacharya said.
He said CPI-ML will closely monitor the BJP-led NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to power with tall promises regarding price rise and fighting corruption and provide basic facilities to the poorest of the poor.
Bhattacharya said Bharatiya Janata Party and Modi had the full support of corporates in the election campaign, though people have voted the BJP to power, it is high time Modi government must fulfil its promises and make life easier for the people.
