The Delhi High Court was on Wednesday informed that the city's Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, as per the records of a law college in Bihar, had studied there for three years and completed his degree.
Justice Rajiv Shakdher was further informed by Tomar's counsel senior advocate A.S. Chandhiok that he was a bonafide student for three years in Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Study College in Munger.
Affidavit submitted to the court by Tomar's counsel, which was filed by college's principal, said as far as the "information regarding Tomar is concerned, the records reveal that Jitender Singh Tomar was a student of this college in LLB Part I, II, and III in the session 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1997-98, respectively".
The affidavit was submitted by Tomar's counsel during the hearing of his plea where he sought direction for Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) to provide him copy of the inquiry report against him and the material available with it.
The BCD had initiated against Tomar in an alleged "fake law degree" case.
Chandhiok alleged that BCD had not provided him copy of the inquiry report against him, adding that the report had been forwarded to the Delhi Police instead of giving him.
The court asked BCD to provide related documents to Tomar on which it relied and initiated inquiry. It also asked the minister to assist in the inquiry against him.
