Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to contribute in nation-building by doing social work.

Citing examples of social work done by people across the country, Modi said: "We should identify them and join them in becoming a social work preacher."

In his Mann Ki Baat radio address, he talked about Jamuna Mani Singh, a social worker in Odisha who prepared the people of a malaria-infested-village to fight the deadly disease.

"Jamuna Mani Singh with her full dedication and extra ordinary efforts prepared the people in her village to fight malaria," he said.

"She spread awareness about precautions and helped the entire village during tough times."

He also talked about Javed Ahmad, who was disabled after being attacked by terrorists in Kashmir in 1996.

"Javed, who is almost disabled, is contributing in education by imparting education to school children," Modi said.

"He did his masters in social work and is leading a silent revolution now," Mosi said. "He should be an example for the entire nation and we should get inspired by his work."

Modi said differently-able people are a source of inspiration and their determination and courage is remarkable.
