Former president of FC Barcelona, Agustí Montal, who helmed the Catalan football giants between 1969 and 1977, died on Wednesday at 82 years of age.
FC Barcelona, in a statement, expressed its deepest condolences to the family, with whom they are sharing these moments of loss, along with members, supporters of the club and the world of soccer, reports Efe.
During his presidency, Montal worked to recover the Catalan identity of Barcelona in the last years of the Franco dictatorship (1939 - 1975).
He was also responsible for the signing of Johan Cruyff, one of the biggest soccer legends of all time and whose death occurred almost one year ago.
