Unidentified gunmen on Sunday shot at and killed a former militant at Sopore town in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Police said unidentified gunmen shot at Mehraj-ud-Din Dar, a former militant of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) outside his home in Sopore town on Sunday morning.
"Unidentified gunmen fired at Dar from close range outside his home in Sopore today. He died on the spot", a senior police officer said here.
This is the third mysterious killing of former militants and sympathisers of separatists in Sopore town in the the last six days.
On Tuesday (June 9), unidentified gunmen killed a former militant and activist of Geelani led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat party named Altaf Sheikh.
On Friday (June 12), another activist of the same separatist party named Khurshid Ahmad Bhat was killed in Bomai area of Sopore town by unidentified gunmen.
No guerrilla group has owned responsibility for these three killings.
Geelani has blamed "Indian agents" for these murders.
