The Iranian military will conduct extensive exercises in the country's southern waters Thursday, according to a senior Iranian commander.

This was reported by the Press TV, Tuesday, which Xinhua cited in its report.

"The might of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be displayed through joint manoeuvres between the army's ground, naval and air forces, with the support of the Khatam al-Anbia air defence base," said Commander of the Iranian navy, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.

The six-day military exercises, named "Mohammad Rasoul Allah", will cover an area from the east of the Strait of Hormuz to the southern part of the Gulf of Aden, according to the report.

Diverse warships, destroyers, submarines, missiles, aircrafts and helicopters will be used in the drill in an effort to improve the naval forces' capabilities, Sayyari said.
