Jamaican sprinter Kemar Bailey-Cole has withdrawn from the World Athletics Championships in Beijing after suffering a hamstring injury.

"It is with bitter emotions that I am announcing that my season has come to an end. I will not be competing at the world championships," he said on his official Facebook page on Monday.

The reigning 100 metres champion at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) has started to receive treatment after suffering an injury while training in Tottori, Japan, Efe reported.

Bailey-Cole, 23, finished third in the 100 metres last month at the London Diamond League meeting.

He was part of the Jamaican 4X100 metres relay team that captured gold medals at the 2012 Olympic Games and 2013 World Championships.
