King Abdullah II of Jordan Wednesday warned of repeated and provocative Israeli violations in Jerusalem and against Al Aqsa Mosque, media reported.

At a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the Jordanian leader said Israeli violations were rejected and its continued settlement activities will undermine all opportunities to make peace in the Middle East, Xinhua reported citing the state-run Petra news agency.

The king called on the international community to increase its efforts and place pressure on Israel to resolve the Palestinian issue, which is the core of conflicts in the Middle East.

He said Jordan, which oversees the holy Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem in line with the 1994 peace treaty with Israel and upon mandate from the Palestinian leadership.

The king added that his country supports all efforts that end the conflict and lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with east Jerusalem as its capital in line with the 2002 Arab peace initiative, which offers Israel normal ties in return for withdrawal from territories it occupied in 1967.
