Journalist associations here on Sunday, condemning DMDK leader and leader of the opposition A. Vijaykant for spitting at media persons, demanded that he apologise.
Condemning Vijaykant for his action, the Chennai Press Club in a statement demanded an open apology from the DMDK leader, failing which the media should not hesitate to avoid publishing news about him.
In a statement issued here, Consortium of Journalists in India (CJI) president N.B. Sethuraman, wondered whether Vijaykant spat at his party's television channel Captain TV.
Suggesting a way out, he urged Vijaykant to issue a statement of regret saying that he acted out of ignorance.
Responding negatively to a question as to whether AIADMK would capture power again in the state, Vijaykant spat at the reporters, saying that they do not have the guts to ask that question to Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
