Karan Johar is set to remake the Tamil action-drama "Vettai" in Hindi, a first for the filmmaker. He promises a lot of heroism, humour and great scope for music in the movie.

In 2012, Karan remade Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Hindi film "Agneepath", but he is attempting a Hindi remake of a southern film for the first time with director N. Linguswamy's film.

"I was very impressed with 'Vettai' when I watched it, but I didn't know UTV was involved in it. I've now partnered with them for the Hindi remake. We will soon announce the name of a young actor, who will fill the slot of a true-blue action star," Karan said in a statement.

The original film featured Arya, R. Madhavan, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles.

Karan, who recently produced hits like "Student of the Year" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", will finalise the star cast and director soon.

"The film will have a lot of heroism, humour and great scope for music. It's going to be a commercial potboiler and one of the few films with a pan-India appeal," he said.

"We are in discussions with a couple of directors and actors. Things should be finalised sooner rather than later. There were many rumours in the past about the film and the star cast. I don't know about the history of the film but now I am part of it," he added.

Ram Charan to make entry with sculpted body in 'Zanjeer'

Ram Charan, well-known name in the southern film industry, has left no stone unturned to sculpt his physique for the entry scene in "Zanjeer" remake, which marks his debut in Hindi films.

If sources are to be believed, the actor, poised to be the next action hero in Bollywood, has especially flown down an Australian fitness trainer to get the rugged physique.

"Ram Charan had specially flown down one of the numero uno trainers from Australia and worked out for almost three to four hours day and night with him, even at 4 a.m for his action scenes in 'Zanjeer'," said a source.

"But he made sure that his workouts didn't interfere with the shoots and other commitments," the source added.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film also features Priyanka Chopra and it is ready to hit the screens Sep 6. It's a remake of director Prakash Mehra's "Zanjeer" (1973) that featured Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles.

There is no stopping Arjun Rampal

Not trapped in any image, Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal is scaling new heights with a variety of roles and wowing everyone.

If viewers appreciated his work in "Inkaar", they were equally impressed with his portrayal of a RAW officer in "D-Day".

Actor Hrithik Roshan praised his "D-Day" role by tweeting: "It's Arjun's best performance till date. You may take my word for it."

Arjun's next project is director Prakash Jha's "Satyagraha", which will see him in a completely different avatar.
