Actress Jennifer Lawrence will next be seen in romantic dramedy "The Rosie Project."

Based on the Graeme Simsion novel of the same name, the film centres around a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman, who possesses the opposite qualities, reports variety.com.

Writer-producer duo Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who teamed on "(500) Days of Summer," have revised Simsion's adaptation of the novel.

In Simsion's story, the protagonist designs the 'Wife Project' to find his perfect partner through a 16-page survey to filter out drinkers, smokers and late arrivers - characteristics possessed by the titular Rosie Jarman.

The professor becomes intrigued by Rosie's own quest to identify her biological father, leading to an unlikely relationship as they collaborate on 'The Father Project'.

Sony is currently seeking a director for the film.

"The Lego Movie" co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were initially interested but have opted to take on Disney's Han Solo "Star Wars" standalone movie.

Sony acquired the film rights to "The Rosie Project" last year and set it up with Sony-based producers Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan.

Lawrence will next be seen in the final "Hunger Games" film, "Mockingjay - Part 2," which opens November 20, and in Fox's drama "Joy," which launches on Christmas Day.

She is in pre-production on Sony's sci-fi romance "Passengers" opposite Chris Pratt.
