In a freak accident, a 23-year-old man died after falling off a flyover when the bike he was riding on rammed into its wall here early Friday, said police. The victim's friend, who was driving, is battling for his life.
Hyder Mehdi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Jyotiba Phule Nagar, was heading towards Noida's Khoda Colony with his friend Ali Mehdi, 19, around 3.30 a.m. when their bike rammed into the wall of Mayur Vihar Phase-I flyover.
Due to the sudden impact, Hyder was flung over the parapet to the ground. He died of his injuries in a nearby hospital.
Ali, who too fell on the road, is battling for his life with critical injuries.
Hyder got married six months ago, and was planning to go abroad three days later.
"He had come to Delhi to meet Ali. Prima facie it seems that the bike was overspeeding at the time of the incident," said a police officer.
