Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Marcelo is out of his country's international friendlies against Chile and Honduras later this month.
The defender injured his knee during a training session with Madrid, reported Xinhua.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has confirmed no one else will be called up for the games, to be played Nov 16 and 19.
Real's medical staff have already discarded the notion of Marcelo playing any part in the club's La Liga clash against Real Sociedad this weekend.
