Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced that the party will hold protests against the Metro fare hikes from Saturday outside the house of the seven MPs from the capital, who are all from the BJP.
The AAP will launch the protest outside the house of Union Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday, and in the following days protest outside the houses of Maheish Girri, Udit Raj, Ramesh Bidhuri, Parvesh Verma, Meenakshi Lekhi, and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, a party leader said.
The AAP dubbed the proposed protest as the second phase of 'Metro Fare Satyagraha', which was carried out by party members at metro stations across the city on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday, AAP leaders were detained after they protested against the hike outside the Union Urban Development Ministry housed in Nirman Bhavan here.
The fares were increased from Tuesday despite strong opposition from the Delhi government, which had locked horns with the Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) over the hike -- the second this year.
