Two non-resident Indians (NRIs) have filed a complaint against slain business tycoon Deepak Bhardwaj and his family alleging they he duped them by illegally selling their land valued at crores of rupees, said police Thursday.
Both the US-based NRI's Amarjeet Singh and K.K. Ratan registered their complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of police Wednesday.
"The NRIs had given the authority to Bhardwaj to take care of their lands. But, Bhardwaj sold their land by using fake papers," said a police officer quoting the complaint.
A case regarding the complaint has been registered against Bhardwaj's family and some other people. Bhardwaj could not be booked as he is dead, police said.
Singh said he had purchased around three acres land in south Delhi's Rajokri area where he wanted to build a hospital after returning from America which was illegal sold off, police said.
Ratan had purchased two acres land in Samalkha town in Haryana that was sold by Bhardwaj, police said.
Bhardwaj was killed by two shooters at his farm house in south Delhi's Rajokari area March 26.
