A 40-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a 75-year-old woman at her residence at Botanical Garden area of West Bengal's Howrah district, police said.
"The 75-year-old woman lodged a complaint alleging that her neighbour Sekh Moidul Islam broke into her house and raped her on Friday night," an officer from the Botanical Garden police station said.
The victim also accused that she was beaten up by Islam when she tried to restrain him, official said.
"We have arrested the accused person and the investigation is going on," police added.
