Global datebase software product major Oracle on Thursday announced that it would hire about 1,000 people across Asia-Pacific (APAC) to expand and strengthen its sales force in the region.
"About 300 of the specialised sales force will be hired in India for cloud and the expansion will help us to drive growth and support demand for our cloud solutions across the region," the US-based multinational said in a statement here.
Cloud computing is a network of remote servers or computers hosted on the Internet to store, manage and process data in place of a local server or a personal computer.
As a vendor delivering complete SaaS (software as a service), PaaS (platform as a service), and IaaS (infrastructure as a service) solutions, Oracle invests $5 billion every year in research and development to help ensure its products are innovative in the industry.
"The cloud opportunity in the region is fuelled by economic growth and an unrivalled broadband and mobile infrastructure. We plan to capitalise on it with an expanded sales force," Oracle's APAC regional president Loic Le Guisquet said in the statement.
Asserting that technology played a defining role in shaping India's economy, Oracle India managing director Shailendra Kumar said the company was looking for bright people eager to lead cloud transformation across the country.
"We are recruiting talent from across the region to create a world-class sales team that will help our customers embrace cloud computing. Opportunity cloud technologies create is profound," he said.
Oracle also offers its employees opportunities to work with global customers, as it is the only company supporting 19 of the 20 cloud providers the world over.
The company's hiring efforts will focus on growth in Australia, China, India, South Korea, and the Asean countries.
