German playmaker Mesut Ozil has been named Footballer of the Year at capital club Arsenal.
Ozil, 27, scored six goals and made 19 assists this season in the English Premier League (EPL), in which the Gunners finished in second place, their best finish since 2005. Ozil won the award on Friday, reports Efe.
Although he stayed one goal away from the EPL record held by Frenchman Thierry Henry, Ozil created 146 chances this season, more than any other player in the tournament.
Ozil joined Arsenal in the summer of 2013 from Real Madrid for 42.5 million pound ($61.6 million).
