Pakistani troops fired at Indian positions in Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir late on Monday, an army spokesman said on Tuesday.
"Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing using light weapons and automatics at our positions in Akhnoor sector of the LoC yesterday evening (Monday)," Captain S.N. Acharya told the news agency.
"Our troops retaliated with calibrated response. Till last reports came in, intermittent exchange of fire was going on in the sector," he said.
Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has violated many times the bilateral ceasefire agreement signed between the two neighbours in November 2003.
