PEC Zwolle top Dutch league despite draw

Despite a 1-1 draw against FC Utrecht, PEC Zwolle kept its surprising first spot after five match rounds in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Willem Janssen opened the scoring for FC Utrecht five minutes after half-time Sunday, but substitute Stefan Nijland secured a point for home-team PEC in the 74th minute. Also Sunday AZ drew 1-1 against Vitesse and Feyenoord beat Roda JC Kerkrade 4-0.

FC Twente drew 1-1 against Heerenveen Saturday, Heracles Almelo beat ADO Den Haag 1-0, while Go Ahead Eagles beat RKC Waalwijk 4-1.

PEC lead the Eredivisie with 13 points, two ahead of PSV and six points ahead of FC Twente, Ajax, Heerenveen, FC Groningen, Vitesse and Go Ahead Eagles.
