Policeman shoots self in Goa

A Goa Police sub-inspector shot himself on Sunday with his service pistol after which he was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday morning near the Goa-Maharashtra checkpoint at Satrade, about 30 km from Panaji.

"Gaurish Malik has received chest injuries. According to doctors, his condition is stabilizing but he has not regained consciousness," Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar told IANS.

According to Gaonkar, Malik shot himself in his private vehicle.
