The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday approved all-rounder Seekuge Prasanna as a replacement for the injured Dimuth Karunaratne in Sri Lanka's squad for the World Cup.

The Event Technical Committee of the World Cup approved the replacement after opening batsman Karunaratne fractured his little finger during a training session in Sydney. He has been ruled out of the tournament.

Prasanna, on the other hand, has played 22 One-Day Internationals (ODI) in which he has scored 181 runs and taken 21 wickets. His last appearance for Sri Lanka was earlier this year when he played against New Zealand in Wellington.

Sri Lanka, placed in Pool A, have played four matches, winning three and next take on co-hosts Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
