With Najeeb Jung taking over as the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia's Pro Vice Chancellor S.M. Sajid was Friday designated as officiating vice-chancellor.
Sajid will perform the duties of the vice chancellor till a successor to Jung is appointed.
A professor in the department of social work at Jamia, Sajid served as the registrar of the university, and was appointed the pro-vice-chancellor in June this year.
Jung, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was the vice-chancellor before being appointed the Lt. Governor of Delhi earlier this month.
