In the unfolding saga of the Sheena Bora murder, Mumbai police summoned Rahul Mukherjea, ex-lover of the victim and son of former media tycoon Peter Mukherjea, for a second round of questioning here on Thursday morning.
Late on Wednesday, a team of police investigators probing the sensational high-profile murder had questioned him for over an hour at the Khar police station.
Among other things, he was questioned about his more than five-year long relationship with victim Sheena Bora, his step-mother Indrani Mukherjea, 45, and other related aspects.
On Wednesday, Peter Mukherjea, the former CEO of INX Media created a sensation when he revealed that Sheena had an affair with his son Rahul, which Indrani did not approve.
Moreover, Mukherjea also made a startling claim that until recently he believed Sheena was Indrani's step-sister and not daughter, as it was revealed on Wednesday.
His version was corroborated by Mikhail Bora, who said that this fact could be proved by a DNA test and also declared that he knew a lot more about the case.
"The real reason behind the murder is something else, which I don't want to reveal now. I want her (Indrani) to speak the truth. If she does not, then I have got proofs, documents and photographs which I shall reveal to the media later," Mikhail Bora told mediapersons, dropping dark hints of more revelations in the near future.
Shortly after the new twists in the case, the Mumbai police visited Peter Mukherjea and questioned him on various aspects.
So far, the Mumbai Police have arrested three people in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case of April 24, 2012.
They are Sheena's mother Indrani Mukherjea, Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna from Kolkata whom she married in 1993, and her driver Shyam Rai from Mumbai, with the possibility of more arrests not ruled out in the next few days.
According to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who is personally directing the investigation, Sheena was killed on April 24, 2012 and her body was found by the Raigad police on May 23 2012.
Driver Rai led the police to the murder site in Raigad, adjacent to Mumbai.
Khanna is expected to be brought to Mumbai either on Thursday or Friday from Kolkata and a police team may summon Mikhail Bora for his version.
On Tuesday, Mumbai Police blew the lid off the case by arresting Indrani and her driver Rai on charges of killing Sheena in 2012 and disposing off her body in Raigad.
She was produced before a court which sent her to police custody till August 31.
"I am mentally very shocked by this... Sheena was having an affair with my son... When she disappeared in 2012, I was told that she was studying in the US. I asked Indrani and she showed me pictures of Sheena at a Diwali function there," Mukherjea said a day later.
Assuring his full coopeation to the police Peter Mukherjea admitted that he was completely stumped by his wife's arrest and added: "I am dumbstruck by this level of criminality..."
