Singer Sukhwinder Singh was on Tuesday named for the National Film Award for best playback singing for the song "Bismil" from "Haider". He's happy as he feels the track truly deserved the honour.
"It's an amazing feeling. Vishal Bhardwaj is a fabulous person and a good musician. 'Bismil' deserves this appreciation and Gulzar has put in a beautiful soul in the track with his words," the singer, who is known for his mesmerising and powerful voice, told IANS.
"Singing for this song was an absolute pleasure. I am extremely happy that I got a National Award for this song and this film."
"Bismil", choreographed by Sudesh Adhana, has also been cited in that department.
"Haider" features Shahid Kapur, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon among others, and was inspired by William Shakespeare's classic tragedy "Hamlet".
