The survivors, including 50 school staff members, took 13 buses from Garissa military camp where they stayed two days as colleagues and community members came in large number to see them off, Xinhua news-agency reported.

A sombre mood engulfed the camp as many students broke into uncontrollably tears when the buses roared out of the camp. Other residents lined on the streets wishing them good luck in their future endeavors.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday declared that the country will have three days of national mourning.
